5 Tips Friday: Introduction
Friday, November 14, 2014
It's kind of crazy to think that this month I have been blogging here for about a year and a half, with 'blogging' over on tumblr for a previous 3 years. Throughout that time and my (current) 2 and a half years studying Graphic Design, I feel that I want to give something back. With so much knowledge that I've gained and knowing how quickly the industry can change, I felt I would start with this blogging series "5 Tips Friday", to use as a way to give back.
Obviously I am not an expert at all with blogging or design as I'm still learning amazing things about each area. But I do feel that I can hand down pieces of information that might be helpful to those who have an interest in learning design or want to start up blogging.
Throughout this series I will be trying to cover the more 'design' aspects of things as I know there are a lot of blog related tip series out there and I want to try and bring something unique to the table. The series will be kind of broken down between what I'd say is the creation of a designer, which in some way will be similar to the design process. By this I mean we will follow the principle of Research to Development to Final.
During the 'Research' part of this series, we will go through things like the actual design process, the rules of Graphic Design and other basic understandings of design.
When it comes to Development, we will be talking about the development of ideas meaning we will be covering some things I've spoken about previously like inspiration and creative blocks but will also be speaking about developing your skills in software like Photoshop and Illustrator.
The Final part of this series (quite literally) will be about you as the designer more. It will be about putting together a CV, using social media to your advantage, knowing were your strengths are. We will also cover the basics of getting an actual job, but due to the fact that I haven't delved into that area yet, it will really just be the basic information.
I hope that I can cover the basics of these in a way that you all find interesting and understandable. I know not everybody wants to be a Graphic Designer but as bloggers, a lot of us will do design for our own blogs, so why not learn a little bit about it? Also, I will be speaking a little bit about blogging and photography tips too but just not in as much detail. If you can think of anything specific you would like me to cover, then let me know below!
