Following my birthday card post from yesterday, I thought it would be fit to show of some of the birthday presents I got last week for my birthday. I did get a wine glass and a shot glass (with key) too, but my mums put them somewhere and I'm not sure where!
But don't think it ends there. Soon in the future I will be doing a bigger blog post focused on Animal Crossing DS (and game) and the button maker, so keep an eye out for that!

(Left) Warm Bodies DVD- Seriously love this! My first weekly words was a quote from this book/film. (Right) A sketchbook and pencil. Can't wait to try these out!
(Left) A bookmark from my Nannie. I really love the vintage style of it! (Right) A 18th birthday photo frame. I'm going to put a picture from my night out in town in here.
Jewelry (Left) From Aly Bali a local Jewelry and Gift shop (Middle) From Mackintosh (Right) Also from the Aly Bali store but is from nomination. It's not really clear but its an "18".
One of the things I was most excited to show you! A professional button maker, so once I get my designs done, and I've had a couple of practices with it, then I'll hopefully be selling them!

Happy Fathers Day!
Since today is father's day I thought it would be fit to show you some fathers day greeting card designs I have seen. So earlier in the week some of you may know I made a post about M&S packaging designs. While looking around the shop I also had a look at the fathers day cards they had for sale.
Overall from their designs I noticed two common trends. Vintage and limited colour. A lot of the designs they had seemed to steer away from the childish illustrations that cards for parents normally have. These cards seem to be more of a choice that someone maybe in their teens or later 20's would give to their Dads. With the simplistic colour choices and not being covered in mooshy gooshy, lovey dovey writing all over it, I feel these are a much better choice of someone of this age.
Out of all the cards featured below, I have to say my favourite design is probably the simplistic "Have A Great Day Dad! HAPPY FATHERS DAY!". I think this card stands out the best as it has a really nice colour palette and I like the different choices of type used for each line.
So on Tuesday I went into M&S at Union Square to get something for my lunch. While having a look around the shop I realised that a lot of their packaging for things like biscuits and crisps were really well designed.
A lot of the designs I noticed where quite illustrated. Not a surprise as in the past few months I feel I have been able to appreciate illustration a lot more. The illustrations on them seemed to have the consistent style of being quite minimalist and flat. A style that has become a lot more popular this year, seeing as companies like Xbox360, Apple and Microsoft seem to have been jumping on the bandwagon and using this style for their products too.
Below are some of the designs that I seen and really liked. (ignore the fact that a few of them are really bad quality, I was only using my phone camera)
I only found out now, about 2 weeks after this was posted that the designer who done some of the illustrations is called Kate Larsen. Just like her design for Marks and Spencers, a lot of her work includes illustrations. You should definitely check her out!
