Just a quick post wishing everybody a Merry Christmas. I hope everybody has had or having a good day doing whatever you are doing, whether that's festive or not. Our presents have been open, Christmas dinner has been and gone and we're all currently relaxing with our feet up in front of the tele!
A massive thank you to those who have all supported my blog this year. Every comment, every follower and every piece of support, it really means the world to me! Can't wait to see what 2015 will bring!
I actually wasn't planning on this being today's blog post but I think after my little afternoon of decorating biscuits and a bit of an incident I kind of had to... I'd seen loads of these Snowmen Biscuits over Pinterest and really fancied making my own ones of them to try. With it being Christmas tomorrow it definitely seemed like the perfect time!
I'm so excited!!! It's only one and a half days really till Christmas now! But not everybody is so organised since loads of people are meant to be going out today and tomorrow to get those last minute presents. And with presents, you need to wrap!
After last years All Wrapped Up post I wanted to do another one for this year as I loved doing that one. A lot of the wrapping is very much the same but there are lots of ideas in both to do last minute wrapping.
I think my favourites above are the ones with different notes (top left), wrapped with candy canes (top right) and the two using cut out dolly shapes (the middle bottom two). This year however I have decorated mine much more like the inked illustrations (bottom right).
How have you been wrapping your presents this year? Any great tips to share with us?!

At the start of the year I shared a post about books that needed to be read as they had just been sitting around for ages. I also set myself a GoodReads challenge to read 20 books in one year. I had originally thought of only doing 15 but felt I could do muuuch better than that.
Ah another really late blogmas post! I've been busy spending the day illustrating little doodle type things on gift tags, getting a few last minute presents from Matalan and finally decorating and wrapping presents! I also spent about an hour this morning taking a load of different photos to have 'just in case'!
I've said before but this year marks the fourth year since I got into 'blogging'. Although the first 3 years of that my blogging knowledge was extremely limited and stretched to whatever sort of blogging tumblr covered. But since then and since starting this blog I feel I have learned a lot from design to social media to content.
Yesterday I spent a little part of my morning over at Make again making some Christmas designs that I'm going to be giving to a bunch of friends and family. It's been something I've wanted to work on for ages. And was even something I had hoped to do early enough to actually see before Christmas. But as usual, I didn't have the time to do it any earlier than this week, which is unfortunately a bit late to make and send out for Christmas!
My favourite thing about Christmas is definitely all the Christmas music that is out there! Over the past few years there's not been a huge amount of new songs but there have been some. I shared a collection of Christmas Songs last year but this years list has had a few changes!
Songs like Wonderful Christmas Time just make me think of Christmas mornings and sitting around opening presents with my family. But my obscure choices, like All Time Low's Merry Christmas Kiss My Ass is just a fun Christmassy themed song that I love!
What's your favourite Christmas Songs?
Meredith C Bullock instagram is so beautiful! |
I'm definitely a Visual Thinker, what are you?

Not a massive change but I've changed up the name of this feature because it makes a bit more sense! I'm also going to add a little wishlist each week, if I've seen really awesome things I would like over the week!
Other favourites from this week..
> The new Disney film Inside Out looks amazing!
> Lara posted that she's expecting a baby girl, so excited for her!

It's definitely been a while since my last Uni Update so since I've had hand in's and presentations recently and I'm finished going in for the semester, what better time to catch up to speed!
Kinetic Illustration
To start of with I'll speak about the class I have had a hand in for, Since my last update, I've gone through a few different ideas and ended up with my final outcome. I've also heard back from my hand in and know what grade I got overall for it too (B+). I'm pretty happy with my final outcome but looking back at what I've done now and the actual brief I kind of wish I went down the route of illustrated motion graphics instead of the film/photography angle as it would have worked into my portfolio a lot better. However, it just means I have something else to work on in my spare time!
Creative Research
Not much has really happened since my last update with Creative Research. I'm still focusing on the idea of having a board game but since my presentation 2 weeks ago I feel like I need to step away from that idea and just create something for a bit of fun and see where that goes. However, I have created a few things that was in-line with my board game idea before my presentation so I do have those at the moment.
Communication & Interaction
This has definitely been my favourite class for working on just now as I'm really happy with what I have done since my last update. I'm still working down the idea of Zodiacs but I've decided much more on a style and have started doing some work for it. I've also decided that I don't really want to create something that has a feminine look to it as a lot of illustrations that I've looked at are like that. The most recent illustrations I've done are created using watercolour and photoshop and I love how the look just now but they do need a little bit of work!
Ink/brush/pen illustrations in (generally) only black |
Inspiration board of watercolour/feminine illustrations. Mix of general illustrations and Zodiac themed ones |
My illustrations: Top Left-Bird, Top Right-Scorpion, Bottom Left-Cat, Bottom Right-Fish. Animal drawings first painted and edited in photoshop. |
Professional Project
Again, I can't really share too much in this update like the last one as although it isn't fully covered under NDA I still don't want to give or show to much away. At the moment I'm working on finishing the logo/branding designs and will be going on to doing the User Interface/Menu options. A lot of this progress have been done over the past month and a bit after we finally decided on a name for our game! There are a few hiccups at the moment due to some external issues in the group but it's looking good that we'll have a prototype done by March/April I think!
That's really all my updates from Uni just now. I might do a few individual posts on specific modules if people are interested in that plus I'm thinking of sharing some things from different outings we've had with Uni too.
So about a month ago I came out all singing and dancing saying I was going to be starting this new series called 5 Tips Friday. Since then I've been, well simply, not happy with it at all. At first it was having it as 5 Tips and now it's more I'm just not so sure on the idea and whether to continue or not.
At the weekend, my parents took down the boxes of Christmas decorations! Since we had an add on at the start of last year, we now have two Christmas trees in the house. One big main one for the presents to go under and a second smaller, pop up one for the dinning room/conservatory. This year, I decided to decorate the smaller of the two!

Oh wow it's been such a long time since I've done one of these posts. It's literally been a year! I have to say during this year I haven't been crazy downloading fonts like I used to as I'm pretty happy with my collection atm. I will try and do more updates like this if I do start downloading more. But there is always loads of great sources to find your own from.
Anyway, I really hope you can enjoy them and get use of them as well. Even though these are all free, please make sure what the details are for using for commercial use as each will vary depending on the designers rights.
This past month my music choices have been pretty much the same kind of thing as usual. The most thing is that they are mostly new releases! The best thing that has comes this month -music wise- is that The Veronicas hve released a new album *squreals*! They were definitely one of my early teen year favourites! I would recommend listening to all of the ones above though, Tycho has been my favourite this month for soothing/relaxing music.
What awesome songs have you been listening to this month?
Back in January of this year I shared this Desktop Downloadable Calendar. I had hoped to continue to upload downloads throughout the year and well, we're in December now and that hasn't exactly happened... oops. But today and yesterday I've been messing around in my sketchbooks with paint and fancied actually doing something with it, so here it is!
All you have to do is either open the image below and right-click and save. Or you can click this link and download it from google documents.
I've not used the google documents function much so if you do have any problems, then let me know!
I hope you enjoy using this download and let me know if you'd like to see more things like these as I enjoy giving you something back!
Last week and the week before, I shared photos from my recent trip to Edinburgh. Obviously while I was there I bought/got a few things- unfortunately no Christmas presents though! I hadn't actually realised how many things I got till I was sorting through it yesterday. Most of the things I got were either from the National Gallery, St James Shopping Center or Markets.
I really, really, really, need to start taking all these points on board! Maybe then I wouldn't get so stressed with things! |
How cute is this little puppy!? |
Santa can I please have this notebook for Christmas?? |
I love the whole design and typography on this magazine |

Dear December,
This past month has been kind of weird. I say it like every week, let alone every month, but it has past so quickly! I've had so many great days this month with the Fireworks, trip to the DCA/McManus Exhibitions with Uni and my weekend away in Edinburgh.
I have been getting a little stressful with all the Uni work that's gone this month with a hand in and loads of presentations going on last week, this week and next! It's a bit mental. But I'm kind of glad that I'll basically be finished Uni for this term after this week and I can get relaxing before Christmas.
I have been wanting to do some Christmas laser cut designs too but not had the time. I would try and get it done next week but think it may be a little late to do a huge amount or actually sell them on Etsy/Folksy, so we'll see! I'm yet to actually get into the competition briefs I mentioned last month but with time of from Uni I'm hoping I might get a chance then. I don't know though as I feel I'll be loading myself with loads and loads of projects again and I'll stress out more!
There won't be a post for today's 5 Tips Friday. Been really busy with uni course work this week -just have a look at my uni blogs, they've been updated loads this week.
In the mean time, I would really recommend having a look at the Computer Arts magazine as this issue has some really awesome articles.
Hopefully be back on track next week when I'm not sure busy!
