This weeks LiveMakeDesign features famous writer and illustrator Judith Kerr. For this weeks feature it will be slightly shorter and of a different format.
Last week I was continuously going on about my little geekyness for the week. This review will probably be the last of the Geek Week posts as 1. it has been a week and 2. I don't have too much else to say. Although, I will probably write a review in the future for the Xbox One but this probably won't be for another few weeks. The reason being for this is that I haven't played it very much yet and think I need to have a shot of it more.
Anyway for now let's speak about the Doctor Who Anniversary episode!
This is a new kind of post I'm doing today. I'm wanting to add a bit more 'life' to my blog and what way to do that than write about what's made my life a little better this week?
In the first post of Geek Week, I mentioned that I was seeing Catching Fire this week. Today I am just writing a little review about how I felt the film was.
Before you continue reading I'll let you know now, there are some minor spoilers.
This weeks quote is inspired from an advert I seen last night while waiting for Catching Fire to start playing in the Cinema(!!).
I realise that I've done a lot of weekly words to do with dreaming and dreams but it's true. You need to put your dreams into action to get things done. Like with the stuff I was on about in the 'Hello November' post, I needed to find supplies and such- which I think I've finally done.
But unless you put in the effort and try to do it, you're not going to get anywhere. And trying to do something and doing it yourself will be so much more satisfactory in the end!
After my little out burst of Geek Week excitement I thought I would show you some of the geekry bits and pieces that I would love to get my hands on!
This weeks LiveMakeDesign features a blogging duo that obviously have a very similar name to this feature- Live It. Love It. Make It., or also known as H and Sammy.
This week I am having a major geek out because of several things. These things include Catching Fire being released, the 50th Anniversary Epsiode of Doctor Who(!!) and -not going to lie- the release of the XboxOne!
This edition of Lauren's Loves is going to be a very seasonal rendition. Over the past week or so the new trend that everybody seems to be loving right now is all these new Christmas Adverts! Some adverts have been the talk of twitter over the past couple of says- especially last Sunday.
This weeks Weekly Words was design was inspired by a 'fashion' moodboard I seen here. I loved the colours used on the tshirt design and the styling of it so introduced it into this weeks design. I hope you like the design created below and can find some inspiration from it.
Created using Apple Berry designed by Brittney Murphy.
For this weeks LiveMakeDesign I am featuring the new blog/website that I will also be writing for as well as this blog- Ohh Deer!
After the horrible infographic unit I had to do, we were briefed with the second part of our Digital Imaging unit which is to create and design a calendar.
During my October holidays, me and my boyfriend Darren decided to try out the Giant Cupcake silicone mould that we had bought from a car boot sale earlier in the year. Today, I am going to be showing you the cake we baked and the recipe used to make it.
About a month and a half ago, Ohh Deer (illustration and design company) was asking for people to contribute to their new blog. I emailed them asking about the opportunity for it and they emailed back and were wanting me to write a piece for their blog!
To be honest, I was struggling on something to write about until Jess (blog editor) gave me the option to write about Creative Sparks- Little Print Shop of Horrors. I thought it was brilliant and fitted well with what I wrote about for this blog, so I wrote a piece and emailed their PR to get some images.
And today the post has been uploaded to their website! You can read it here.
It's such an exciting opportunity for me to write for them and to be able to expand my readership/style of writing. I'm looking forward to hopefully being able to connect with other illustrators and designers through this. So if you can, please have a read of it and let me know what you think. Also, please help the community of Ohh Deer by liking and following them on twitter and facebook.

Here's this months Free Font Favourites! I really hope you can enjoy them and get use of them as well. Even though these are all free, please make sure what the details are for using for commercial use as each will vary depending on the designers rights.
The next brief I had at college after the App Design, was to design an Infographic. The infographic we had to create had to related to Aberdeen in some sort of way. So we had a heap of freedom with the brief- which to be honest made it a lot harder for me.
It's November!! I can't believe it's literally like 2months or so till Christmas!
So the past month I've been very busy with college and work and other little bits and pieces. At college in the past month I think I've completed/been briefed on about 4 different projects! I think it's fair to say that I've been a bit busy with college and because of this it has ran me done a bit. I mean in the way of being 'run down' that because I've had to work on so many different kind of briefs, and create so much things not just for college, for this blog too! It has given me major creative block which wasn't great as it was during a project that I had no inspiration or motivation for what-so-ever! I'm starting to slightly come out of this but I think it may still be a while, I think I just need to stop being so stressed about having to create stuff and let it come a little more naturally.
Moving on from the boring and stressful side of things, I HAVE actually started looking into and developing things to make and sell! I'm probably going to be buying some supplies and other things during the next week or so as I will have just been paid from my job at the Co-Op and will have a decent amount of money to get it all started up. However, I need to start saving up for my college London trip that we have just been given more information about this week!! so excited Hopefully I will be able to get my initial idea done and dusted this month and will be able to start selling stuff through Etsy but I'll just need to see how things go. At college just now, our brief is also to create a calendar and our lecturers have encouraged us to make it good enough to be able to sell so that's something else that may be coming!
That's really all the news I have for this month but I would like it if you all go say happy 18th birthday to my dear friend Clare! You can either say happy birthday through her blog here or twitter @claresloves.
Today is a special day! Not only do I have Weekly Words up today, I also have my Hello November! update/post. It won't be uploaded till 11:00am though so make sure you check back then!
But for now, here is today's weekly words design. I've been pretty obsessed with the Dots: A game about connecting game. I adore the game and only came across the fact that they have a handful of quotes on their 'about' section of the app. A few of the quotes really stuck out to me and the one below is one that stuck out to me the most.
The design I created below is created with my own hand writing again.
